I can't seem to install my printer in Slackware for some reason. (no problem in Suse, Mepis or Libranet).
I went to http://localhost:631/, administrative task, add printer.
I can enter Epson, /dev/lp0, Epson C80 on the first page.
On the next page, it asks me to select a device for Epson, but none of the choices seem to fit. I want to choose a parallel port, but there is a list with SCSI and lots of serial and USB, but no parallel ports.
LPD LPR seems to sound right since there's a P in it for parallel, but it asks for a url.

Then I tried the KDE print setup, and again i have to name a url for my parallel port.

Can someone help me please?

You'll need to enable the module for your parallel port in /etc/rc.d/rc.modules if you haven't done so already.

No, i haven't done that. I don't know how yet, but I can look around on Google now that I have a direction. Thanks!

Just open /etc/rc.d/rc.modules with your favorite text editor and look for the "PC Parallel Port Support" and "Parallel Printer Support" sections then uncomment (remove the "#") /sbin/modprobe parport_pc and /sbin/modprobe lp

You can then do a modprobe of each and your printer should be ready for setup at localhost:631
