Ok, I've done everything I've read to do, and I figure after I install the printer during the installation my printer should work...well if I try printing in any program absolutely nothing happerns...no error messages or anything.

There was an option to install this particular printer during install, I boot linux with a boot disk (last time I installed a bootloader it made me loose access to windows (not good at all!). I can't run any programs a I download, I don't know how, clicking on them doesn't do anything.

Also the games that came with KDE run so slow that they usually crash my computer completely...I'm running a P4 1.3 GHz processor with Intel Boards, GeForce 256 vid card /w 32 MB and 128 MB RRAM. I have a built in soundcard which works with Linux, except I can't play music at all. The CD rom drive spins but no sound comes out of it.

for the cdrom to play music cds it needs a cable from the cd to the sound card.

your problem with installing programs sounds like you just need to read some info about how to do it.

you might have to get some different driver for your video and setup the 3D software for it.

lpr /etc/hosts

I've tried printing like that and nothing happened.

I've looked around and I was not able to understand anything other sites were talking about except for I think I have to update something, and then do something else...obviously I can't understand the terms used, because I'm new to Linux, and that is why I am still having problems with the printer!!!!

Anyways, if anyone knows what I have to do, and could break it down into simple steps for me, as well as everybody else who has this problem, please help. Thanks

Oh ya, my CD rom does have the cable for sound going to the sound card/mother board (it is built in)

my epson wouldn't work until i updated my printer drivers. Red Hat has an erratta to 7.2 that includes a bunch of printer drivers. Run up2date if you have a fast connection and then do printer configuratiion. hope this helps

You might try searching redhat for the sound too. There are some other issues with it.
