Fairly sure I downloaded the 64-bit iso..... this is getting weirder and weirder.

-edit

scratch that, im dumb - wrong setting on VirtualBox --- but as for the discrepancy with the hash-sums ,...that is still weird.

Yes, it is 64-bit according to that message but you seem to have i686 set on your virtual machine. You'd need the amiga-586 image for that machine.

Trying the Mac (classic) , while I never used a Mac in years, I do recall this version as well as the version 7 Mac from my school daze.... I think though while I don't care much for Mac, I do rather prefer the classic rather than the system7 or the later Aqua theme

Yea I dunno whats wrong with me today, /usr/bin/brain not working correctly - I guess that whole md5sum threw me off - which I don't know why I was getting different hashes until redownloading the iso for the nth time...... oh well

Tried again. Still getting f072a191cd6ab47a5333e068dc0656a8.
EDIT:
Haha!! It was an incomplete download - showed up as complete, but wrong size by a few MiB.

So now you should have the same hash rate:
Code:
bfe352c0fd46c96e775f01c41917031f
My question is, why didn't I have the same either? My download was complete and not until like the 4th time - I finally got the same hash rate as the md5 on the site... Oh well, I guess today is just a weird day.

Success! Hot-diggety-DOGGGG!!!
Kept getting partial downloads with Firefox, so tried with Falkon, and:
Code:
brian@slackdesk:~/Downloads$ cat slackware64-live-HOTDOG-20220227.iso.md5 && md5sum slackware64-live-HOTDOG-20220227.iso
bfe352c0fd46c96e775f01c41917031f slackware64-live-HOTDOG-20220227.iso
bfe352c0fd46c96e775f01c41917031f slackware64-live-HOTDOG-20220227.iso
The last attempt with Firefox, which it claimed was complete, was only 123 MiB!

Had fun going through the install process via the classic Mac UI - although it seems incomplete I guess? I rebooted to my installed desktop, but there are no icons on the right hand side, such as the home directory or trash at the bottom, hrmm... I dunno if the Mac (aqua) vesion has this issue. My only other nitpick - only ext3 / 4 , but eh thats just my nitpick.

The first attempt was too small. Tried again and the dl size was on the nose.
Tried it out and there was no way it would boot for me.
Not curious enough to continue

I dd'ed it to a USB stick. Booted OK. Tried the Amiga, nicely crude looking, little drawers that open when clicked.
Fun, but I won't keep it.

It's based on Slackware Live, so the "ordinary" username is live, password live. And root's password is root. Of course if you plan to keep it, those should be changed.

Oddball projects like that are part of the reason I really enjoy using Linux. Awesome!
