I have not had a response on the kde list and before I go back I'd just like to check here to see if anyone else using current with kde-4.2.3 gets the same eroor. It may be a bug, I don't know
While I d'load with wget, when I work on my website I transfer files using konqueror. Yesterday I found that instead of opening an ftp'd file when I click on it I get and information popup asking me what I want to do with it and when I click to open it open it I get an error popup telling me taht it is a directory and konqueror was expecting a file. Thinking this may have something to do with my hosting service I tried some ftp mirrors and get the same results.
I used to use kftpgrabber, but wget is much less trouble for downloads plus I can be selective about what I grab, e.g. --exclude-directories and if I am working on a website I find it simpler to just work between two tabs in konqueror, one in my pwd and one ftp'd into the website.
I was actually going to post a follow up to this thread today to say that I solved the problem.
Somehow on a vanila setup of the ~/.kde configs on /current with kde-4.2.3 there were two entries in file associations when I checked this on an ftp directory The first had a lower case "k" while the second and third listings, Konqueror and Dolphin, were uppercase. I deleted the lower case konqueror and everything went back to normal.
