error installing ati driver

I am trying to install the ATI propritary ATI driver on a Dell GX620 with a ATI x600 video card. I appear to be getting errors when I try to modprobe the module. My dmesg output displays the following errors:

fglrx: Unknown symbol inter_module_unregister
fglrx: Unknown symbol inter_module_get_request
fglrx: Unknown symbol inter_module_put
fglrx: Unknown symbol inter_module_register

I have compiled a 2.6.16.16 kernel, but I don't know how to correct this error. Any help would be appreciated.

fglrx needs to be patched for 2.6.16 and newer kernels.

Apply the patch from http://www.rage3d.com/board/showpost...is Rage3D post in the /lib/modules/fglrx/build_mod directory and then manually rebuild & install the fglrx module.

After some more work I found the info in the following post corrected my problem and allowed the driver to load properly.
