I'd like to know if you have a recurring payment available yet.
Since I forget to donate sometimes I'd rather have a "set and forget" kind of arrangement.
If you change your paypal account to allow recurring payment (like AlienBOB has on his) it would be best.
Hope your funding situation improved so you can focus on what you like doing (Slackware).
Please consider getting a store going again. I just went to buy a CD set and maybe a t-shirt and saw the store was blank then went on to find out about all the mess that has been going on. Perhaps people could donate some designs and Patrick could put them up on CafePress?
Paypal and Patreon are fine but merchandize can help too. I'd hate for Patrick to get ripped off again and I know it'll be a sore point.
I've been using Slackware since the mid 90s and although it's been my main distribution since then, I've only ever bought one CD set a long time ago. I'm more in a position to give back some now and I'd like to. It's a shame in a way that there wasn't more of a Slackware team developed to allow Patrick to concentrate on what he's interested in and other people to take care of the boring stuff. I think Slackware could have been much bigger than it was (though that's not necessarily important).
I'll throw some money on Paypal. I'd like to suggest Patrick gets a legitimate Bitcoin address too. I could donate a bit more there and maybe Patrick could buy some new hardware on newegg.
So I will immediately move to Paypal for my donations. I liked the idea of the subscription, since I can set it up and continue to support without thinking too hard, but of course I want it to actually be going to Slackware development.
Unfortunately, I think for recurring subscriptions, you can't use the free transfers on Paypal. I don't know if there's a really good way to do it.
I think Patrick is partly right on physical media being a lost cause. With the possible exception that a USB drive with a nice Slackware logo on could be reused once the software was done with.
Here's a though too. How about having a new logo for each new major release? What would people like to see in a Slackware 15 logo? I think something could be worked on the Sl <-> 15 perhaps?
Cafepress is pretty horrible about the amount that actually goes to the "store-owner". Though admittedly probably not as bad as what the official store was doing. It's really more for vanity stuff from what I can make out.
Also, while the logo is nice enough, that shirt is simple enough that I could make one myself with a few minutes in inkscape and my amateur screenprinting kit. So it fails on both fronts.
Is this really official? I'd like to buy some t-shirts, but from recent events, I' ll feel better if I hear it from Patrick himself. So far I can see that they state this in their page and have a link to Slackware site.
