Sorry to hear that. Surely that coffee is disappointing by comparison, lacking richness, character, and depth of flavor.

I get by these days with my NetBSD mug, but I'm sure the coffee would be a just as good in a Slackware one. If one shows up I'll have to buy one and compare.

Here is an alternative,

https://www.zazzle.com/s/slackware

However, I don't think Mr. Volkerding shares in the profits.

Nice find, those are great. Alas, I may have to hold out until PV gets a new store or a better licensing deal. It feels strange when zero dollars from merch sales go to Slackware development.

Like Phalange, I'm not a fan of the flippy Slackware logo. I've always liked the Linux Tux logo/mascott. At the Zazzle, Tux with an unlit pipe (J.R. Dobbs) and "Slackware" below it works for me. I'm considering buying a mug from Zazzle then donate twice the amount that I spent at Zazzle to Mr. Volkerding. < https://paypal.me/volkerdi >

It's a compromise as I get the mug I want, PV benefits financially from my 2X matching donation, however the purchase would still reward and encourage an enterprise that is benefiting from the "Slackware" name without an agreement with PV.

I follow your logic on this. Lacking a better solution, this seems like a good compromise. And this coffee situation is a crisis. Without a decent Slackware mug, I may as well drink it from a dog bowl.

Hello,

(and for my first post, I'd really like to thank every slacker -and other linux users- who helped me a lot and will help me again with their discussions here ; before I subscribe, I was a daily reader of this forum !)

So, I have to ask for precision, but before, I have to give some about me :
I've started to use Linux in 2001, maybe 2002, with a pipe smoker penguin and since this time, I've used other distributions too : red-hat (before named fedora), the old mandrake...
But slackware is the only serious distribution I like to manipulate and wich learn me the (very) little knowledge I have...
Recently and after a long time I have to equip myself with a desktop. So I install slackware and I'm happy to meet again a distribution I recognize and the only with whom I have affection...
My OS have a soul !

So, after building my new desktop, downloading the 14.2 slackware, installing it and start to manipulate, I decide to support mister Volkerding's hard and finest job. I went to the web store and choose the official guide, a shirt, a dvd with subscription and some stickers (in fact port's price to europe was too expensive and to buy just a dvd appears to have no sense). Some weeks after, I read the post from Patrick about his problem with the store...
I would prefer send the money to him directly but it's too late...
It's really a bad and sad story ; good people have to pay for bad one ; strange pact in this world...

Now, to support, I decide to share results of my research about slackware in my language (you can see my english is not famous at all !), I hope it could give some informations and motivations to other french newbies like me !
On this page, I want to link to this page and to Patrick's paypal. Do you think I can can do that ? And do you think it could be a good thing for slackware and for Patrick ?

And my second question is about slackware DVD's subscription : I've seen it no more exists on store (and I see a post which spoke about this subscription on LQ) but to be honest I didn't understand what is it exactly and what it happens with it...
I have something to do about it ? Resiliate or something ?
Maybe I could send something regular instead of this subscription ?

So, here I am after this loooonnnng post, and if you too, thanks to read my difficult english prose !

Have a good life with slackware !

I would say of course you can ! For now. And once Patrick say how to support him more officially, a lot of people will change their signatures, I guess.

According some posts here on this thread, all subscriptions have been canceled. Maybe someone to confirm or not ?!

That is what a lot of people do, or are thinking to do. Monthly or yearly.

Of course you can link it. Many have added his link to their signatures on this forum. But I would also suggest you link to his post stating that address, just so others can verify the authenticity of the link (so they don't think you're putting your own link to get you money while pretending it is a link for Pat).

The subscription was designed to get you a set of shiny new Slackware disks whenever a new release was put out. You would be charged that amount for the new set of disks. As far as I understand, the store has cancelled all subscriptions and won't charge you or send out new disks when the next Slackware version is released, but it may not hurt to contact the store to verify it.

I think there are plans to have something be automatically recurring, for those who desire that, but nothing has been announced yet. As of right now, you'd need to just manually send more money via the paypal.me link (or check in the mail) whenever you decide to send more.

I will link Patrick's paypal on my page (I hope at least a few people will read it and will give a little something to Patrick).

Sure, it's a good idea! Without you, I didn't think to do that...
I will tell you when the page is online (on the end of week or next one).

It's ok for the subscription, it's better to contact the store ; and I will share the answer here (if there is one).

After I will think about how to help Patrick and follow his proposition...

See you!
