I never claimed anything, if you read prior posts it was pointed out by another member. If you care to read further you will see my response. My last post was just acknowledging that previous posters post. Is that a problem for you?

My point is some of you, and you mentioning your own BP shows it, react anytime something happens. Why keep it going? The Slackware world is now in order, not that anything serious was ever going on anyway, so I don't see the point of bringing the same old same old up again after nearly a week. I hate to say it but that others seem to agree with me otherwise I wouldn't have the "2 members found this post helpful" on one of my posts.

Call me a troll as often as you like. Just because we don't see eye to eye, probably never will either, doesn't mean I am a troll.

First of all, useless is your comment, just because something was discussed before doesn't mean that it cannot be mentioned again.
In every single forum, answers are given to a question that has been asked and answered many times over, and that's what keeps forums alive.

Second of all, why would you assume ( especially when OP title says "Don't ASSUME............" ), that everyone got the memo, I didn't, so I'm glad that he did post it.

See, the thing about forums threads is that no one force you to read it, or reply to it, but if you really feel like you have to build up your number of posts, the idea would be to post a link to a thread discussed not that long ago.

Have you heard of the search function?

I'm happy your glad, now the world is a better place. The point is that the people who new about the fuss, which the OP knew about, did know everything was fine. The OP, and anyone else taking part in the spreading of this story are just keeping all the FUD going. And again have you heard about the search function?

I don't need to build my number of posts. I actually have better things to do than settle the nerves of a bunch of Slackers (meant in the nicest possible way of course) but I will reply to everyone who quotes me. It would be rude not to considering you felt the need to bring me back into it. I've been called a troll, so my advice would be to stop feeding me.

I make one comment about how behind the times someone is and then make another, which 2 Slackers agreed with as you can see, and I'm the one being called a troll and accused of increasing my post count. Oh well

What's silly to assume is that "Slackers" are like x, y or z.

For instance, if we go through the posts and find a significant number of people who say they use Debian commenting in Slackware forums about how "Slackers" are this way or that way, would it be suitable to paint the Debian community in one way or another? In fact, it wouldn't be appropriate to paint the Debian-using, LQ-registered, Slackware forum-posting members with one brush.

So, drop the "devil's advocate" bit which you seem to wear as a badge of honor. While it's not worth hashing out whether this thread was truly useful, your post most assuredly was not, even if a couple of thread readers "liked" your comment.

Warning to all

Since all your slackware (non-|ab)users have been itchy for some threads now I remind you:
VII. Challenge others' points of view and opinions, but do so respectfully and thoughtfully ... without insult and personal attack. Differing opinions is one of the things that make this site great.
V. When posting in an existing thread, ensure that what you're posting is on-topic and relevant to the thread.
II. Personal attacks on others will not be tolerated.

In short: don't provoke, remain respectful and on topic or keep yourself from posting.
Thanks in advance for your understanding and cooperation.

Not a problem. Just my response to you.

You did see the smiley at the end of that sentence?

This thread is from the OP posting a link: http://www.itworld.com/it-management...-way-premature which is a collective and analysis of what had been happening lately with Slackware discussion(s). Nothing wrong with someone showing the facts and analysis. How do you know that slackers selected helpful for your posts by this statement;

You do not! You are making assumptions here. They could be Debian users or whatever!

Your posting style and mannerism do seem to me to be troll action(s). Plus look at your sig badge:

I often play Devil's advocate, if this, or a discussion on your beliefs causes you distress it may be safer for you to not throw stones
Challenge or deterrent? Not a troll bait? No one is throwing stones, just information and opinions about the original content.

This is not the place to play devil's advocate! Yet to have a discussion that is both constructive and to do it intelligently not in a insulting or inciting manner to provoke someone to argue. Just for the sake of arguing. Which to me seems your intent.

My apologies to the OP and other members for getting off topic.

Y'all have to shape up as there'll be less and less open threads for you to sling mud at each other in. And that warning applies to everyone.
