Can't modprobe esssolo1.0.gz


EDIT:After fooling with alsa,I got everything to work,sorry for the used up space.

In future, could you please leave your post intact and then just post the solution? You don't need to try and delete your thread if you find a solution. If you post the solution, you can possibly help others with the same problem.

Hi. Sorry,I ususally do leave my posts intact. My problem was that I didn not have sound on a laptop that used an ess solo-1 audio chip. I thought I needed to add the essolo1.o.gz module from the /lib directory and I couldn't modprobe it. However,it turns out that I actually needed to configure alsa properly. To do this,I did

Code:
modprobe snd-es1938
I then did

Code:
alsamixer
and set the levels to what they needed to be. After that, I did

Code:
alsactl store
and then rebooted. I hope that helped,and I will be sure to leave my posts intact in the future.
