esssolo1 on RedHat EL (2.4.2x-x)

Good Morning --

I just installed RedHat EL. It seems the kernel that comes out of the box was compiled w/o
the "modules" option, so "make modules" didn't work. I'd like to enable my sound card (IBM Laptop, driver is module esssolo1). I tried configuring and recompiling this kernel to enable modules, the compilation went fine. Got the image. But when I followed it with "make modules", I got a bunch of compilation errors and got kicked out. My questions are:

Where can I find an "esssolo1.o" for this kernel? Or do I still need to re-compile 2.4.21-4?

A net search didn't get me anywhere.

Thank you,

Martin

What part of "make modules" did it kick out on? Probably easiest to just go back and pull that part from the menuconfig options. My old laptop, also a stinkpad... actually my new one is too, but that's neither here nor there, regardless, I had that card too, never could find it as seperate source. Really, its probably best to go ahead and jump a few kernel versions unless you're married to 2.4.21 for some reason. A vanilla kernel tree should compile just fine. The RH source is usually so patched senseless that it doesn't complete make's properly.

Cheers,

Finegan
