Sadly, war is in Sapiens genome not in any specific belief or non-belief... "We" eradicated all our cousins on our path to nowadays...
They labelled us "Sapiens" but I'm still not sure that everyone (anyone?) have already passed the threshold...

Trying to imagine an Europe united under Ottoman rules, and considering the Turks tendencies to "civilize" the "unbelievers", I suppose that even IF not happening the two WWW, still there would have been, sooner or later, one hell of war sided by the Ottoman Empire (and united Europe, with all its mighty) with the "unbelievers" from North: Tsarist Russia.

So, instead of French or German armies, would we have had the "pleasure" of being "visited" by all of you, sooner or later? No, thanks!

Actually most of us take it in the sense it was offered. I certainly wasn't offended and smiled as I read it. Although I do agree politics should go to the "everything else" forum.

It will be interesting to discover, in time to come, who was really behind the 19th and 20th century game in Europe, setting France, Germany and Russia against each other. A power who wanted to ensure Europe remained divided, in my opinion. Keep it split down the middle and ineffective. Destroy its manpower. Destroy its economies. Make sure none of these rising powers threatened the established order.
Anyway, I welcome the return of Russia. I also welcome the EU going from strength to strength, and would like to eventually see Russia and the EU economically, politically and militarily as one.
