an image from firefox 'sticks to x'

hi all,

i have a dell laptop with an nvidia card (proprietary drivers from sbo) running 13.1. all of a sudden a random image from firefox would 'stick' on the display and it would be visible on other applications. for example, a yellow rectangle would appear wherever you go with firefox (on top of every page), on top of word documents (ms word is running under crossover), but it would not be visible on the kde desktop of dolphin.

anyone seen anything like this? or even better, anyone know how to fix it?

This was happening to me for a while after updating to -current. Two days ago i updated to -current again (with firefox 4) and installed the new nvidia drivers from the nvidia website and the problem is gone. Hopefully your problem is as easy of a fix as mine was.

That's happened to me before. Flush your cache in FF. That should fix it.

EDIT: Oops! I should read more closely before posting. Disregard my above solution. I don't think this is an FF issue. Although, it doesn't hurt to dump the cache anyway.

Are the images that are sticking to your screen ones from flash advertisements? That's what was sticking for me.

This problem is caused by Flash Player 10.1 + nVidia driver (when you enable hardware acceleration with VDPAU).

Try to upgrade to Flash Player 10.2.159.1.
If this is not enough, try to disable hardware acceleration.
