Alsa, 2.6, es1371, Slackware 10.1

I'm new to ALSA; I have been using OSS for the longest time and I decided it's time for the switch. I compiled 2.6.11.10 and built in support for my Ensoniq es1371 into the kernel. I ran 'alsamixer' and turned up the volumes and did 'alsactl store' to save them. I'm not hearing any sound when I try playing an mp3 in mpg123 so I'm not sure where to go from here. Here's the output of lspci

00:00.0 Host bridge: nVidia Corporation: Unknown device 00e1 (rev a1)
00:01.0 ISA bridge: nVidia Corporation: Unknown device 00e0 (rev a2)

Thanks!

hi there,

did you take a look here ?
i would suggest to compile the driver for your card as module and download the newest alsa-driver and alsa-library from the alsa project page.
i see that is much harder to get sound working with alsa when you compile the things direct in the kernel - as builtin.
anyway, if you still want to get this as builtin, make sure that you update your libraries and drivers for alsa.
regards

ALSA lib confmisc.c:550snd_determine_driver) could not open control for card 0
ALSA lib conf.c:3463_snd_config_evaluate) function snd_func_card_driver returned error: No such file or directory
ALSA lib confmisc.c:387snd_func_concat) error evaluating strings
ALSA lib conf.c:3463_snd_config_evaluate) function snd_func_concat returned error: No such file or directory
ALSA lib confmisc.c:945snd_func_refer) error evaluating name
ALSA lib conf.c:3463_snd_config_evaluate) function snd_func_refer returned error: No such file or directory
ALSA lib conf.c:3932snd_config_expand) Evaluate error: No such file or directory
ALSA lib pcm.c:2068snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM default

Did you run alsaconf to detect and load the modules?
