Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Linux 2.6.0, ES1371, OSS and ALSA + KDE 3.1

I'm setting up Kernel 2.6.0-test3 on my desktop system and can't get my soundcard (which uses ES1371 driver) to work using ALSA. Using OSS it works smoothly though; however since OSS is depreceated I'd like to use ALSA.

The soundcard is detected properly and I can't seem to find some useful debugging information to fix the problems. Running KDE 3.1 I get no error message - I just get no sound.

Oh and yes I did try both Autodetect and ALSA in KDE Control Center of my Debian SID box ...

Currently everything works fine (including IPSec), except that sound situation :-)

Any help to fix the problem is greatly appreciated ...

Did you use the .config for your previous kernel with this new one (is it possible to?)?

Of course I didn't use it ... it would be of no use since a lot of things have changed and I'd rather want to take a look at the whole stuff.

I can post my .config if that would be of any help ...
