Adding a scsi board

I installed Slackware 10 with the standard kernel. I have just added an Adaptec board to it and would like to use standard Slackware tools to install the Scsi aware kernel. Can someone suggest the suggested way to use pkgtool to install the Adatec kernel so that the associated peripherals will be seen?

Thank you

I'm sure there are other ways of doing it, and some might be better,
but what I do is:

Install the bareacpi kernel.

And instead of messing around with that, I just edit the:
/etc/rc.d/rc.modules file.

Uncomment the line that supports your card.

Example:
I have a Adaptec 2940UW

So I uncomment the line:

/sbin/modprobe aic7xxx

Which load the module for all aha7xxx based cards.

Hope that helps - tw

(I have 2 drives used for backups and 1 scanner connected to it. - works fine for me
this way)

Thank you

It's amazing what you forget over time. Slackware 2.4 was my original exposure to Linux. I was completely aware of the method of installing modules, compiling new kernels, and other important tasks. Having moved to Debian for the last few years, I've forgotten the approach taken by Mr. Volkerding with regard to modules. All works fine, now.

Thank you
