AusK, you bumped a six month old thread - and one which hasn't had a response for four months - just to say this. It's really not necessary and unproductive. You're only passing on your own negativity with such posts.

This post is the first result for multiple google searches relating to a similar issue with Kali.
Don't get me wrong, I'm in complete agreeance, Kali should absolutely not be used for a desktop - Your post is by far the most reasonable in this thread, you've actually posted a few links to back up what you are saying.
Both links provide context and help from an understanding of why a direct answer to the OPs question is being given.
Posts like the following though:
Quote:
Kali assumes that the user has a Masters degree ( or equivalent ) in computer sciences and is a very*experienced*Linux and Networking user / Administrator*

Complete and utter crap- outright lies in an attempt to come across as intellectually intimidating or something
and

It's easy. Kali is a tool for experienced professionals. It is not for you. Remove it.

So because this guy has an issue with a blank screen in Kali, just from that little bit of information, This genius knows that he's not an 'experienced' professional and that its. 'not for him'. Such insight.
They could have:
- Linked to something like the threads you did making sure they understood the level of knowledge that's required to use it
- Kept their mouths shut if they can't contribute anything that's on topic.
- Tried to help at a super basic level like a few later posts
But crap like the above comments is just internet dribble
It's no secret that for at least the last 10 months the official VMWare OVA's have been suffering from this exact same issue, It just looks really bad when someone comes to a forum, asks about a known issue with the software, and is immediately told the issue is because he is not worthy and that he should never use it. I've run into this exact same issue before about 6 months ago and struggled to solve it. I run a company that specializes in security consulting, I've been a systems administrator for 25 years and have specialized in security for the past 10 years. I've got so many industry certifications that I lost count years ago - Yet I still was hit by this issue. A quick google will show hundreds of others suffering the same issue, but instead of pointing that out, they go down the 'your dumb' route
The responses early in this thread = People who don't know the answer to the question but feel the need to be keyboard warriors
Your post I hold no beef with, You are reasonable and provide information to back up your assertions. The other people earlier on in this thread are the gutter trash the security industry has been trying to purge for years.
Sorry guys, The 'I criticize people in order to cover up the fact that I know nothing but love to pretend I do' movement died out in the early 2000's.
