RH 3 - Update PHP and GD Library

Hi,

What is the best way to update PHP to at least 4.3.* and install the 2.0 version of the GD Library?

I'm really new to linux and I am looking for some advice etc. I have root access to the box (as it is an internal test web server) and some of our projects require php to be a little more current.

Thanks

I am a bit confused since RHEL 3 was released with php-4.3.2-8 see for example;

ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linu.../os/i386/SRPMS

php-4.3.2-8.ent.src.rpm 3633 KB 10/21/2003 12:00:00 AM

Download the source rpms for php and gd for RHEL4 (get the latest updates) and build/install, note it is up to you to satify any additional requirements for the build.
