i am quite new to linux and here, so bare with me.

I have red aht 9.0 with kernel running 2.4.20-39. I also have downloaded and installed all updates. Now i have installed gtk 2.6.7 and when i try to run Main Menu -> Preferences -> Themes i get window

No themes could be find on your system. This probalby
means that your "Theme Preferences" dialog was improperly
installed, or you haven+t installed gnome-theme package.

Before i made this update i could run, browse, ... through desktop themes with no problem.

Any ideas or sugestions

I use redhat 9,too, also can't startup Gnome-Theme-Manager. No icon-themes appear on desktop. I try to modify gconf setting (very dangerous!), problems seems to the [interface] part. All settings become <no value>, I try to modify some relate to theme, change to Bluecurve (string), then all icon-themes come back.

However, it shld be very careful.

You guys do realize that RH9 is VERY old? Support was dropped years ago (2003?). Switch to a current version. RHEL5.3(Red Hat Enterprise Linux) is current. If you do not want to pay Centos is the free version. You could also switch to the community development version Fedora(RHEL versions are based on Fedora).
