That's right, all my Nautilus related text just desappared after I upgraded to XFree 4.3 in my RH 7.3 Laptop. I switched to run-level 3 and started X manually to see if I could see any messages being sent to the first virtual terminal, indeed what I saw was something like this:
Code:
no glyph loaded for character 'x'
no glyph loaded for character 'y'
no glyph loaded for character 'z'
What the heck does this mean? Did I do anything wrong when upgrading X (from 4.2.1 to 4.3.0). Why are X or nautilus being unable to load the
glyph for the characters that should compose the name of the icons and stuff in the Desktop? Can I correct it?
What I've tried so far:
I've tried to re-set the state of the gnome and nautilus specific settings by removing the .gnome* .gconf* and .nautilus directories from my home... to no avail. All the other accounts in the system have the same problem (my two users and root's account). I'm running desperate here, so any piece of advice would be greatly appreciated.
Just for the record, I am running on a:
Red Hat 7.3
GNOME 1.4
XFree86 4.3
If hardware is
that important it is a:
AMD Athlon XP mobile with
512 Mb DDR RAM on a
VIA KT266 chipset mobo
Laptop model: Sony VAIO PCG-FXA679 (LATAM number)
