Upgrade from RHL 8.0 to 9.0 no nautilus !!!

Hi

I upgraded from RedHat 8.0 to 9.0 and have several problems

Problem 1,

After the upgrade my Gnome desktop was trashed no backround was displayed and no desktop shotcuts displayed., no errors were displayed.

Problem 2,

When I log in I keep on getting error messages regarding unable to find file UTF-8

This was rectified by editing "/etc/sysconfig/i18n" and changing the first line to LANG="en_GB" from LANG="en_GB.UTF8"

LANG="en_GB"
SUPPORTED="en_GB:en:en_US:en"
SYSFONT="latarcyrheb-sun16"
SYSFONTACM="utf8"

Problem 3

Cannot use a Motif program hp2392 terminal emulator (works OK on RHL 8.0) gives the following error.

. /hp2392: relocation error: /usr/X11R6/lib/libXm.so.1: undefined symbol: _XtInheritTranslations

Can anybody help

You "upgraded" or did you load from scratch? I have never had much luck, really, "upgrading." I now always load from scratch. I know that isn't much help, sorry.

Cheers--

It was an upgrade. The system that I use has lots on non-RedHat software that would need re-installing if I had to install.

The only reason I tried to upgrade was that the release of gnome (2.0) on RedHat 8.0 has a bug that prevents you from arranging the menu. I would rather just update gnome but do not know where to get the RPM's to install 2.2

Hi all
If you keep on trying you sometimes get somewhere. I found out that the following RPM's were not installed

/mnt/iso2/RedHat/RPMS/gnome-python2-nautilus-1.99.14-5.i386.rpm
/mnt/iso2/RedHat/RPMS/nautilus-2.2.1-5.i386.rpm
/mnt/iso2/RedHat/RPMS/nautilus-cd-burner-0.3.2-1.i386.rpm
/mnt/iso2/RedHat/RPMS/nautilus-media-0.2.1-2.i386.rpm
/mnt/iso2/RedHat/RPMS/eog-2.2.0-1.i386.rpm
/mnt/iso2/RedHat/RPMS/fontilus-0.3-4.i386.rpm

I installed them by putting the list of RPM's in a file (infile) and then rpm -i infile voila all OK.

Next problem
Cannot use HP scanjet 5p working was all OK on 8.0 connected via a sym53c416 SE SCSI card. RedHat hardware browser shows this as an unknown device (no driver in the kernel)
