Dedicated server RealVNC install

I'm tring to install real VNC of a dedicated server remotely i got the rpm installed but when i try to run Im getting the error couldn't find xauth on path. I'm assuming this is probably because xwindows isnt the default startup. Could anyone tell me how to get this to work or how to get xwindows to start on bootup i dont have access to this machine it is remote only thanks I'm a newbie and really need to get the VNC working
