writing an AMR encoder and decoder for ALSA driver in linux

Hello all,
Iam required to write a media driver in ALSA which requires support for AMR format . Since ALSA does not support AMR format i have to write an encoder and decoder for AMR. I tried a lot of google but was unable to get any information . If anyone has already worked in relation to the above issue or has info or links which might be helpful please inform to me .

Hello all,
i have found a way to write the encoder and decoder , since i see a lot of people who view the thread i thought providing this info might be useful for all. There is a source for amr encoder and decoder in www.3gpp.org , but still there r some noise problems which i still have not been able to solve . So if anybody happens to use the above source and finds a way to solve the noise issue pls let me know that might be helpful for both.
