Balkce LQ Newbie Registered: Sep 2003 Posts: 9 Rep:	AMR modem hangs with Smartlink driver Hi I have a problem using my modem... i have an HP Pavilion ze4430us, with a 2.4.22 kernel on it, on Red Hat 9. Im using SmartLink driver to work on it (ive used both the 2.7.10 and 2.8.4 with the same result) and "KPPP" does recognizes it and when i do a query the modem does respond appropiately. lspci -vv gives me this: 00:08.0 Modem: ALi Corporation Intel 537 [M5457 AC-Link Modem] (prog-if 00 [Generic]) Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company: Unknown device 0024 Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster- SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- Status: Cap+ 66Mhz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort- <TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR- Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 3 Region 0: Memory at d0008000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=4K] Region 1: I/O ports at 8800 [size=256] So everything is fine... The problem comes when it begins to dial... it just tells "Dialing ... " and EVERYTHING hangs. No keyboard respond, no mouse respond, i can't even go to a terminal with CTRL+ALT+F1 to kill the thing ... The compilation and installation went fine, i dunno what's up. Can anybody help? Balkce
