VIM Syntax Highlighting

Hello,

This may be a dumb question (I feel a little silly asking it), but how do I customize the syntax highlighting colors for VIM? I looked through the manuals and either its not there, I didn't see it, or I saw it and didn't recognize it.

I am not looking to customize a particular language file, but in general - i.e., change the color of keywords, change the color of quotes, change the color of braces, etc.

Take a look at $VIMRUNTIME/colors/README.txt.

I told you it was a dumb question. I feel pretty stupid right about now.

Hopefully I'll be able to understand the README and change the colors I want. Really, it is just one color that really needs to be changed so that I can see it. Bolded purple on a black background is really hard to read - I think I might change it to orange (bolded or not, I'm not sure yet).
