Plotting Graphs in C and C++ - GNU Plotter

So I'm a physicist and I occasionally need to do some programming and plot some graphs. My university currently uses 'PGPlot' which is a fortran library but is also C callable. But it's pretty difficult to set up on non university computers and getting some on the features to work can be tricky.

So I was wondering if anyone could suggest a better plotting library - something like koolplot only more functional, able to draw error bars and adding trendlines to a set of data.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Start from gnuplot.info . I am not sure whether it can be used as a library (probably it can), but it can definitely be fed through stdin/pipe.

I has a prebuilt Windows binary and, of course, can be built on UNIX boxes - I build it routienly - the main reason is because it is used GNU 'octave', which I also build.

There are other powerful suites - QtiPlot, for example: http://soft.proindependent.com/qtiplot.html .
