Hello all,
I have found a rather nice plotter that I would like to use on my database website. It's a Java applet called ptplot 5.6 (written in Java of course).
Link here
Anyway I check to see that I have java installed
Code:
which java
/usr/bin/java
which gcj
/usr/bin/gcj
~/ptplot5.6 % rm config.*
/local/METLIN/ptplot5.6 % setenv PTII "/local/METLIN/ptplot5.6"
dios:/local/METLIN/ptplot5.6 % ./configure
checking if $PTII ('/local/METLIN/ptplot5.6') has backslashes... ok
'/local/METLIN/ptplot5.6' does not contain backslashes
checking if $PTII ('/local/METLIN/ptplot5.6') contains "cygdrive"... ok
'/local/METLIN/ptplot5.6' does not contain cygdrive or cygwin, which is right.
checking for find... /usr/bin/find
PTJAVA_DIR environment variable was not set,
so we search for the java compiler. ##### <- ok shouldn't this be gcj ?
checking for javac... no ##### <- What the heck java is installed
configure: WARNING: Failed to find javac, perhaps Java is not installed?
configure: error:
Java directory /usr/java doesn't exist.
Be sure that the directory that contains javac and java is in your path.
Typically, under Windows, this directory might be c:\jdk1.3.1\bin
For instructions about adding to a directory to your path permanently,
consult your user documentation.
Under bash, you may temporarily add a directory with something like:
PATH=/cygdrive/c/jdk1.3.1/bin:$PATH
export PATH
rm config.*; ./configure
You may also try --with-java=DIR, or set the PTJAVA_DIR environment variable
to the directory where your jdk is located:
PTJAVA_DIR=/cygdrive/c/jdk1.3.1
export PATH
rm config.*; ./configure
but adding the directory to your path is likely to work best.
Any ideas, I'm kind of lost and not really sure how to pick it up. I've tried setting the PTJAVA_DIR to /usr/bin but it's in my $PATH var so all should have been ok right?
Thanks for any ideas
