ORA-03117 two-task save area overflow


what does it mean


when fired a select query on the table with values of datatype varchar2(10)

what all has to be done to cure from thus

This is an internal Oracle error - you cannot fix it.

Have your dba contact worldwide support

I agree with Jim McNamara that this is something you should have your DBA look at.

My first two guesses are:
1) Configuration error (for example, you need to adjust your init.ora parameters)
... and/or ...
2) Client configuration error

Talk to your DBA.

PS:
You haven't given us any clue as to what version of Oracle you're running, what your client environment is, whether or not you can connect to Oracle at all (e.g. through sqlplus), what other errors you might be seeing, and whether or not you have any trained Oracle support staff available.

yes i m able to connect to oracle thru sqlplus from where all the queries can be successfully fired easile..

when i try to fire the commands thru php ..yes i do connected to the oracle , i m able to fire insert update queries ..but when try to fire select * command on the table with the field of
datatype varchar2(20) it gives this error OCIStmtExecute: Error while trying to retrieve text for error ORA-03117 ..
if the datatype of the field is int then select command runs successfuly..why?
i m not able to rectify the problemm..
help................
