Unhappy ORA-00205 Error

Hello,

I just intalled Oracle 9i on a Linux Red Hat Enterprise 3 (WS) server. A started DB was created by default.

I attempted to create a TEST DB accepting default values using the DBCA. When invoking the SQLPLUS and try to start the TEST DB, I got an error message:

ORA-00205: Error in identifying control file, check alerts log for more info.

Any ideas how I can go about resolving this issue ?

PT

PS: I check and made sure that my 3 control files are created and exists in the correct directioyy and are referenced in the SPinitTEST.ora file. I am puzzled by this PB.
