jGrasp IDE

I use jGrasp for my programming environment. I'm running RH9 on a Dell 5100 laptop. Whenever I start jGrasp I get this message:

"Default system character encoding uses multi-byte characters or is not one-to-one.
Currently jGrasp CSD windows cannot handle such encodings ISO-8859-1(Latin-1) encoding will be used.
Character display, printing, I/O, and cut and past behaviour may not be as expected."

Does anyone know how to fix this or make it use the right endoding?

Thanks,
J

Setting your environment variable LC_CTYPE to ISO-8859-1 before launching the program should solve it. Setting it permanently in /etc/profile could be a very bad idea if all other appliations assume UTF-8 encoding, so just doing it this way should be safe.

How did you get Jgrasp to run on RH9

Hi,

I am simply trying to get jgrasp to run on my RH9 installation and don't know quite enough about linux to accomplish it with the instructions they provided. Can you help me with this? I have used jgrasp in windows but would like to be able to work in linux instead.

Thanks,
Joshua
