2 bit error on 2.6 kernel

Excuse me ,but could you please tell me whether the current 2.6 kernel supports 2bit error check? Mr/Mrs Cox submiited EDAC patch(http://kerneltrap.org/node/5784), does it mean that now the stable 2.6 kernel cannot support 2bit error detection?
Another problem is that EDAC needs to patch and build the kernel source to create the module, is there any other software which provides the 2bit error detection and does not need to build the module outsides kernel source? Or could you please introduce the method to achieve this? Thank you.

That's Alan Cox - Mr.
One could reasonably assume a patch offering new functionality would imply the functionality doesn't currently exist.

Don't know where you got the idea that this is a module. A quick look at the (significant sized) patches indicates they are against the mainline code.
As one would expect.

Looks like they are in the -mm tree, but haven't looked to see if they have been merged to Linus' tree.
I'd doubt it though.
