cc1: error: code model `kernel' not supported in the 32 bit mode

Hi

When installing the alsa driver i get this message in consol:
cc1: error: code model `kernel' not supported in the 32 bit mode
I'm using mandrake 9.2 and the gcc compiler on an ibm thinkpad i1400 series.

How can i solve this problem?
