32-bit or 64-bit linux kernel ???

Dear,
I have installed RedHat Linux V.2 for IBM iSeries.
I want to know the command to check whether my operating system is a 32-bit or 64-bit kernel.

early response is highly desirable ..

Well if the IBM iSeries is a 64bit machine then it has to run a 64bit kernel. They're not interchangable AFAIK.

Typing
Code:
uname -a
will yeild the information you need. Read the man page for options to display only certain information (such as the machine type)

HTH
