Advantages of Unix over Linux

What are the advantages of Unix over Linux? My problem was, I really want to be running FreeBSD, but the installation always had a problem. Linux installed easily.

advantages for who??
If you say that you want to run freeBSD vs Linux, then you must already have an argument that applies to you.

The only thing I can think of is that Unix has been around longer and has more utilities available.
Linux does all that I need, so I have no motivation to branch out

Well, I was told by an IT security technician that the best OS for IT security is FreeBSD, but I have seen a lot of Linux distros built that have quite a few security tools in them. Is he still right?

Netbsd and openbsd are probably the most secure out of the box OS's currently IMO.

They disable uneedd services right out of the box and are extremely secure.

Just all around secure.

Don't know what you want BSD for but PC BSD is interesting.

Well I can't see why BSD's would be better. I was once very pro-unix but then I noticed that linux is nearly identical, just that most common tasks I do are easier to pull off with it.

What I miss from my BSD-era are ports. It's made for BSD, it works for BSD. No more .rpm, .yum etc confusion and learning a couple of different package managing systems (out of which apt-get is teh best *takes out flame extinguisher before too late and ducks*).
