Just installed SimlyMepis 6.5.
very fast and nice install; sound and video out of the box :-)
One problem: number of desktops was one (default?)
Changed that to 4 (Controlcentre), however still have only one.
Any ideas?
Don't run 3D.
In Configure KDesktop the number of virtual desktops is shown as 4.
Ctl+Scrollwheel brings me to the other desktops.
Don't see these on the taskbar.
Add "pager" to your kicker from the "add applet menu" I belive you right click on the menu or click on an arrow on the menu to get to the add applet menu. Kicker is like the windows taskbar
When I installed xgl on my SuSE 10.1 system, the kde pager didn't work, although I did have additional desktops. After upgrading to SuSE 10.2 the KDE desktop previewer & pager does work. You may have a similar situation.
I haven't read mepis.org to see if this deliberate or not, but it may be a move to be more friendly to new users from, shall we say, "Other Environments".
Personally, I won't mind too much if this is the new default -- I know how to fix the problem. In fact, I think the previous default, 2, was an in-between, useless compromise, abortion -- too few to be useful & too many to be simple. For my own purposes, I would like to see 4 or 6 or 8, but, as I said above, I know how to fix the problem.
I long since resigned myself to the fact that I like a customized DE, I'm just thankful I can make it the way I like it.
