Through the konqueror file manager find this file in the root folder
/etc/apt/sources.list.
Right click on the file and choose the option "actions" then "edit as root"
Give password then make sure these lines exist.

# mplayer
deb ftp://ftp.nerim.net/debian-marillat/ etch main
deb ftp://ftp.nerim.net/debian-marillat/ sid main

While you are at it check that the Mepis rep is like this:
deb http://apt.mepis.org/3.4/ etch main
deb http://apt.mepis.org/3.4/ sid main

Save the file.

Then as before, as you did above, as root

apt-get update
apt-get install libdvdcss2 w32codecs

NOTE: I use the unstable reps (Sid), but you may choose NOT to include them.

I have sorted it out now I downloaded an rpm of libdvdcss2 and it worked with Mepis

but the playing of DVDs ant that good though. it does juder a slite bit

perhaps a diffrent virsion would be better

i have the same problem,cant connect to nerim repos.i have a actiontec dsl modem.

Have you enabled the repos in sources.list?

Which version of Mepis are you using?

Have you checked that the nerim repos are exactly the same as the ones I posted?
Do any of your repos work?
If they are, try #the unstable one, and try again.
I don't think that the problem is your modem, unless for some reason it cannot connect to ftp sources.

Don't forget to apt-get update once the repos have been changed.

If there are still problems, post the ouput of apt-get update

here it is all the other ones work,cant connect to blackdownjava either but im not worried bout that one.

Check to see if your firewall is allowing ftp.
This is probably the cause of the problem.

thats what i thought too so i turned guarddog off and it still happens.

perhaps his ftp server doesnt support ipv6, which your apparently trying to use

so what would u do to fix this?
