Playing DVDs

Hey guys, I was having some major skipping problems with xine, so I got mplayer, which is much better. Now, I'm having some issues getting the osund to work with mplayer, it gives me the error; "Couldn't find matching filter/ao format"

As a simpler problem, when I play the DVD in xine, it loads to the title menu. In Mplayer, it just starts plyaying the entire film. What is the way to change this?

Also - (another simple problem) I am unable to get the video to maximize when I drag the video screen to a bigger size. When I say fullscreen mode, the video image stays the same, although the window is essentially infinitly big. Any ideas? -Bill

I try using xine and totem-xine to play a vcd but all it shows is the menu where you can see the differnt clips on the disc.I try telling it to play but just sits there.Did you have anything like that when trying to play a dvd.I still haven't come up with a fix.
