update-menu problem

I'm having problems with update-menu -v, the program seems to stop responding when it gets to this line:

Update-menus[11242]: Running method:/etc/menu-methods/simplified//kde3

Am I being too impatient? I let it go for a few minutes, there isn't any HD activity so I just end up killing it.

Any suggestions?

read the messages carefully
there might be a menu item in /usr/lib/menu prevent it from going on

I ran update-menus -dv and there were no messages after that line, just a blinking cursor and no activity.

The updatemenus -v stalls when it's finnished. Just hit enter and that should be it.

There's a patch/update to the problem available. Just hit mandrake update.
