Unhappy Trouble trying to install Linux

I'm having a ton of trouble trying to get Mandrake 10.0 official installed. There seems to be something wrong with my cdrw drive and it can't burn the iso/read the disk right. The first time I tried to install it wouldn't recognize my partitions. Then I tried again and I got all sorts of errors when it went to install the packages. Then it refused to install the boot loader, and when I did get it to install, it didn't give me any options. Then after running the rescue command off the cd I managed to restore the windows boot record but it wouldn't let me reinstall the boot loader. I went and downloaded a boot loader from download.com but linux still wouldn't run. I tried to install off the cd again and it won't even recognize my mouse. So I tried to install from my second hd, but it won't read it (NTFS). Is there anything else I can try or should I just give up on linux?

Do a md5 checksum of the iso files you downloaded, to see if they are corrupted or not, if they are ok,burn them.
also which program are you using to burn those images?
make sure you choose the right options in the program, if you are using windows, i recommend nero.
Good luck!

doh, Yeah I am using Nero, Nero Express actually. Came with my CDRW. I seem to be having some sort of drive problem though, I can only burn at 16x, otherwise I get errors (and I used to be able to burn at higher and lower speeds, which is why I'm thinking its a problem with the drive). Which is why I have been trying to figure out different ways to install aside from the cds (and the ISOs do happen to check fine, the problem seems to be after burning them).
