searching for libpng3-devel-1.2.6-1mdk.i586.rpm

hello, i need the libpng3-devel-1.2.6-1mdk.i586.rpm file to install Mplayer.
it is not in one of the 3 CD from 10.1, and i didn't find it on the web.
i only found libpng3-devel-1.2.6-2mdk.i586.rpm or libpng3-devel-1.2.6-1mdk.i586.ppc.rpm , but as i have libpng3-1.2.6-1mdk.i586.rpm installed with Mandrake 10.1, they do not work (i can't install them)!

do you know a site where i could find it, or can i change the version of linpng installed ?

thanks

Thumbs up There is an easier way

You might want to visit this site. http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/
It will give you simple directions for setting up an urpmi mirror database.
Once you have completed that you only need to type "urpmi mplayer" as root and urpmi will find all your dependent packages for you.
I'm glad you got it working.

i made a mistake, i wanted to install mplayer with kde environment. i didn't install gnome at the install of MDK.
I had tried urpmi before but had error messages about the gui telling me to recompile mplayer, i could only use console commands to use it.

do you know which program is the best for kde ? kplayer ? I don't like xine (kaffeine).

Choice of movie player is really personal preference. There is xine or gxine. mplayer with mplayer-gui (run with gmplayer), There is also totem and vlc, xmovie...

It sounds like you ran the command line mplayer instead of the gui.

urpmi mplayer-gui

to install the latter.
