Raid Controller for 10.1 - 64bit

I am purchasing a new server and want to use my favorite distro, which is Mandrake. I will be using the 64 Bit version of Mandrake 10.1.

I have never setup a raid array before. The server comes with the following raid hardware:

Hard Drives - Four Western Digital Caviar SE 250GB, 8MB Cache, 7200 RPM, SATA (WD2500SD)
RAID Controller - 3ware Escalade 9500S-4LP 4 Port SATA RAID Controller

How can I tell if this hardware will be supported. As well, does anyone know if the default install will recognize the raid controller. If not, what steps should I take if I need to tweak the system.

Thanks, Eric

Hi Eric. Go and have a look at the link below on the Mandrake website. It is the hardware compatability section and it says that the card you mentioned is certified ( which means it has the highest compatability rating that mandrake gives). Here's the link,
http://www.mandrakelinux.com/en/hardware.php3

Hope this helped you

Cheers

J.K.

Thanks for the hardware lookup section on the Mandrake site. It shows that the Raid controller is Certified for the x86 platform, but shows nothing for the X86_64 platform.

Does anyone know how to check the compatibility. Or can you assume that if the x86 is supported, that the x86_64 is supported as well?

Thanks, Eric
