Sata RAID with onboard raid controller

Has anyone ever heard of anyone who has made their Linux boot from an integrated SATA-RAID?

I use a Asus P4c800-E Deluxe with 2 SATA raptors.
Ive also tryed to make it work on an INTEL p875xx card.

To enabel RAID you have to run enhanced mode, but Linux doesnt detect drives unless in compatible mode.
Any way ive tryed to run those stupid SATA-RAID driver discs supplied by ASUS n others, but nothing works

Any one knows what to do???

I have a different mobo, but I've been following a thread on a different board. They couldn't get the onboard SATA to work until the started taking things off the reguler IDE controllers. For some reason the board would I.D. the SATA controller with a CD drive on the primary slot of either of the 2 IDE controllers.
Bizarre, but seemed to be confirmed by a couple folks with the same Chaintech nForce 3 board.
