I am a Windows user, and I have decieded to give Linux a try.
I downloaded Mandrake 10.0 off of Linuxiso.org and installed it today. I followed all the steps, and kept most of the defualt options. Then I go to the part where the computer reboots and the bootloader pops up loads the linux kernel then I get this messege in a command prompt:
Mandrake Linux release 10.0 (Official) for i586
Kernel 2.6.3-7mdk on an i686 / tty1
localhost login: _
And so i type in my username, then the password. It then takes me to the command line ([user@localhost user] $). I am not familure with linux commands yet. So how do i start KDE?
You need to first of all log in as the user you created. Then type in startx. Of course, this assumes you set up the gui on X configuration during the install.
