No video player works at all

I can't get Xine, Mplayer, Totem, RealPlayer (did anyone say ReakPlayer ) or VLC to play videos correcly under my Mdk10Offical system. I usually get sound but the picture is just always green.

I have not managed to play any videos at all (mpg, mov, rm, avi you name it!). Everything just gives me the green screen of death (with sounds allright)!

I have tried both the Mdk surplied rpms as well as those from PLF (for mplayer).

Please help, this is very frustrating...

greetings,
kamstrup

what graphics card are you using?

if it's NVIDIA, I remember reading somewhere recently about a bug that caused something like this.
Get the latest build from the nvidia site.

[mikkel@3e6b05b4 mikkel]$ rpm -qa | grep xvid
libxvid2-0.9.2-5plf
libxvid4-1.0.0-0.rc4.1plf
libxvidcore3-20030319-4plf

Didn't have libdvdcss... I just dl'ed and installed
libdvdcss2-1.2.8-1plf.i586.rpm from PLF but still exact same problem.

Seems like the needed codecs are not being recognized or missing...hmm, try installing some of these mplayer-codecs and see what you come up with.

mplayer-codecs-linux-xanim
mplayer-codecs-win32
mplayer-codecs-win32-qt
mplayer-codecs-qt-extras
mlayer-codecs-win32-mjpeg2k
mplayewr-codecs-win32-indeo
mplayer-codecs-win32-dmo

had a video oddity this evening

went to play a dvd but every player was missing the red colour

was about to give up when I thought "i wonder...let's log in to the guest account and try that"
perfect playback!

why is it screwed in my normal account but fine in the guest account on the same machine?

That is indeed very strange...the only thing that comes to mind is trying to adjust the hue balance. Otherwise, I'm stumped

Try removing the hidden file for those playes in your normal users account. I had to recently because of another problem.
