No sound with Flashplayer7

I have installed flashplayer 7 on Mandrake 10.1 community and when i play flash animation websites in Mozilla, there is no sound.

Now when i go to a flash website with konqeror, it tells me to install flashplayer, though i already installed it.

I am wondering now if i should not switch back to Mandrake 10.0, because with 10.1, i encounters only pb.

any idea what is going on ?

How many sound cards do you have and if you look in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins is there a java plugin there and finally is konqueror set up to look inthe the above names folder for the java plugin. Check by going to settings --> configure konqueror --> plugins --> and looking at the folders it scans, if it isnt there add it and start a new scan.

Same problem here

I'm using Firefox 1.0, and flash 7.0.

I have the pictures fine, but no sound.

I'm running KDE on a 10.1, the ARTS sount system is on. My soundcard works ok, uses ALSA.

Any clue ?

Sounds like a rights issue.

The flashplayer may not have rights to directly write to /dev/dsp or communicate via ALSA.

You may wish to check the perms.

/dev/dsp is accessible to all. How do I check access to ALSA ?

If I disable ARTS in my KDE preferences, I have sound in Flash all right...

Any way to tweak Flash to make it play with ARTS ?

Hmmm...

I installed Flashplayer via the RPM's provided on the DVD and it plays through Arts/Alsa w/o problems, as does RealPlayer.

Did you install it by downloading it from someplace other than the Mandrake repositories.
