Menu missing from Gnome

I've recently upgraded my Mandrake 10.1 system to a Mandriva 2005 Limited Edition. To my surprise, I discovered that the entire Applications menu had disappeared. All that is left in the menu, is the "Actions" part. Can anyone please tell me what has happened and/or let me know how to get my applications back?

There is no problem with the other window managers(KDE, Blackbox, etc.), but I really like Gnome and would hate to have to switch.

You should be able to add lots of goodies to your panel by right clicking on it and choosing Add To Panel.

Thanx for the reply!

The problem is not that I can't add stuff to my panels. The problem is:

1.The "Main Gnome Menu" (The yellow star, usually placed in the far left end of the Panel) contains none of the usual choices like "Office -->", "Multimedia -->", "Configuration -->", etc. All that is left in the Menu, are items like "Log Out", "Search for Files", "Recent Documents", "Run Applications". If I choose "Run Application...", all I get is an empty window of "Known Applications".

2. When I try to add something to the Panel, I get a lot of applets and stuff to choose from, but no Applications.

It looks like you have the Actions menu but are looking for the menu.Applications menu.

I am using Gnome on a standard Red Hat distribution and I have both the Applications menu and the Actions menu. I can add something called Main Menu which contains what you are looking for.

I hope I am helping. I didn't install this Red Hat distribution myself, it's a standard at my university. But I do not believe they have made some special changes and therefore this should apply to most distributions (I think).
