Sorry if this is obvious, but I have searched both the Mandriva site, this site and mandrivausers.org - but I can't seem to find out when the new version is due. The Mandriva site says that RC2 is the last release candidate, but that was a while ago.
Does anyone know when the new version is expected? I am looking very much forward to trying it :-)

I am in the Mandriva club and I got an email stating that it will come out in early October. No exact date, though. Oh yes, and this is ONLY for club members. Public availability will probably be in late October or November.
I'm still wondering if I should renew my club membership or not.
Its due out to club members on Oct 6th so if you join the club it may benefit you. They released to early-seeders on Sept 30th. Don't ask why the delay were all wondering that. If your not a club member you may have to wait a few more weeks. But you should still be able to download the free rc2 and update with cooker. You should have a working 2006 release. One main thing I have noticed is 2006 is alot faster so it is worth the upgrade from 2005.
All the club members have been getting on mandriva's case about that we were anticipating 2006 to be released on Sept. 16 maybe a week later at most when it wasn't released we all got pretty irate. It appears they were listening because they added what the actual club release date is and available to all date. Now all they have to do is stick to the dates. It is a very good OS so as soon as you can get your hands on it do so.I have been running it now for 5 days and there were a few bugs initally. But I can safely say now I will never go back to windows again.
OK but , the club members have a torrent to spread the isos , as I saw , but then if this torrent become available , anybody can have the isos ? you dont have to authenticate to download using this torrent , am I write ? thanks
The .torrent file has your username and a hash number. If you close your session before you actually start downloading you have to re download the .torrent file to download the torrent. If you have 20 days till your account expires you will be fine 2006 official will be released to club members in 2 days.

Very smart, indeed! This way Mandriva can track down who is distributing the torrent and cut off their membership and torrent.
I hope Mandriva 2006 comes out soon. I really would like to try it. This is going to determine if I will renew my silver membership or not.
I'm sure they will be on the torrent search sites soon. I already checked earlier most have rc2. I have 21 days left or I'd help you out now. I wouldn't go renewing your membership right now though. Alot of us asked why we should renew a one year membership if they are only going to release one official version a year? Before we were getting 2 so the membership was sort of a deal. Now it needs some work and maybe the more memberships they lose the more they will notice. Just my 2 cents though.
