Mandrake vigin seeks guidance

Help please
Just loaded Mandrake 9 as a dual boot with XP. All goes well but when I get so far with Mand. I end up after putting in my user name and password with a command prompt saying user@localhost. How do i get from there to a useful user interface please.

ummm... as in Mandrake 9, do you mean 9.0? 9.1? 9.2?
yes, there's a differance
yes people will bother you about it.

it's kind of odd that going throuigh the mandrake install didn't automatically set it to start the GUI. To start it from a command line type "startx"

You are starting a long journey that will be difficult at times. I hope you enjoy the ride.

If you installed X, you could try

startx

or

stardkde
