Total Newb Seeks Mentor

Please beleive me when I tell you that I have searched high and low already and even though I may have accidentally stumbled onto the info I ask for, I was too lame/insecure to know what to do with it. I DO know NOW that ATI cards are a mother bear to config, but I am fairly certain there are those who have accomplished it.

Main problem at this point is configuring an ATI AIW Rage 128 under Xandros 2.0. I didn't install the tvtime package because I realized too late that the ATI cards can be a real bear to config and I had already6 experienced the same problems with a SuSe instalation I replaced with the Xandros. I really would like the tv to work under Xandros. Other than having an IBM flatbed scanner that I found no support for this is my only real problem with the Xandros.

Being a total newb to Linux, the quality of the instruction I need to make this thing work will unfortunately have to be of the "help for dumbasses " variety, ie "First, click on a, then click on b, then type in such and such...."

The box I am using has an Abit NF7-M mobo, an AMD XP 2400+ chip, 675 MB of Total System Memory (DDR variety), a Maxtor 80 gig 7200 rpm HD split into 2 partitions using Partition Magic, 98SE on one and Xandros on the other, using the Xandros boot manager.

Any or all help would be greatly appreciated as I am sick of giving Mr. Gates any MORE of my hard earned cash. Will check back frequently and try to respond to any input ASAP.
