Mandrake 10 installed, but can't run it...

Hi,

I just installed Mandrake 10 on a Sony Vaio Laptop. The installation process ran succesfully, but when I first ran the machine on linux, it asked me the localhost login. It looked like in a console.

I logged in, but did'nt know what to do after.

I am a complete newbie.

Somebody can explain me what happened, I what I have to do?

I had the same problem while trying to install the 9.2 on the same machine. On a normal desktop, it worked fine.
Can it be linked to a hardware problem?
I don't understand, as there didn't seem to have problem during the install process.

Dont know much, but IIRC you can switch at less when graphic mode pressing

ALT+F3.. if not, search for all the combinations, from alt+f1 to alt+f12

If you enter in graphic mode with mdk 10 go to system->configuration

And then select: start->automatic login, and select always enter in graphic mode.

I may not be understanding your question correctly, but as I understand it, try typing "startx" after logging in. That will hopefully launch your graphical interface. Once in, you can set it up to auto login as mentioned.
