Why won't Firefox run after I've installed it?

Ok...I just tried to install firefox in Suse 9.1. I put it in /usr/mods and then ran the installer ./firefox-installer and it gave me this about 30 times:

(firefox-installer-bin:5414): Gtk-WARNING **: /opt/gnome/lib64/gtk-2.0/2.2.0/eng
ines/libqtpixmap.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

However, it still went into the installer. After I finished installing the program, I attempted to run it and it gave me this:

Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: XDM authorization key matches an existing client!
(firefox-bin:5474): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display:

Now...I tried this in su and my regular user and it did the same thing...I am a newbie at linux, so at this point I'm kinda stuck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and cheers!

I'm running Suse 9.1 Pro kernel 2.6.5-7.108-smp x86_64 if that helps anyone diagnose my problem...

Well, firstly, are the binaries you downloaded compatible with the architecture you're running?

You attempted to run it from an xterm, right?
And regarding the earlier error, sounds like a library problem. Hmmm.... this is interesting. Make sure you're trying to run the right executable. After installation, I found firefox in /usr/share/firefox/firefox

Doh! Yep...you're right... I guess I wasn't aware of that. It says:

Linux kernel - 2.2.14 with the following libraries or packages minimums:
# glibc 2.2.4
gtk+ - 1.2.0 ( 1.2.5 or greater preferred)
XFree86-3.3.6
Firefox has been tested on Red Hat Linux 8.0 and later

Oops...now I feel stupid. So this means that it won't work on my system, right? Sorry for the stupid post all...lol...Cheers!

I just checked for a /usr/share/firefox but it doesn't exist... I untarred and installed it in /usr/mods/firefox-installer and there is an executable in that directory called firefox.

No no, the tested on doesn't mean it won't work... but you may have to do a little extra legwork to get it installed.
And re. latest post, ignore my /usr/share directory- that is a slackware vs. SuSE difference. Use your own directory intuition.
